“YOU only bring me flowers and no chocolates anymore”.
The famous song title has now been tweaked by Redditch couple Michelle and Matt Cash, who have lost 108lbs in body weight between them.
Back in late 2018, Michelle, weighing nearly 15 stone. realised her weight was a problem and she knew only she could do something about it.
So she plucked up the courage to walk throught the doors of WW (weightwatchers reimagined) at Redditch’s Emmanuel Church and Ecumenical Centre where she was met by local WW coach Debbie Onions.
“I was given a lovely warm welcome and I knew I had made the right decision,” said mother of four Michelle.
“I used to buy loads of crisps and we used to have regular takeaways but bit by bit I changed my attitude towards food and, conscious of my family’s health, I started to cook from scratch again,” said Michelle.
“Every week you are given a WW recipe at the workshops so suddenly my culinary repertoire increased, from risottos to pasta dishes and homemade soups.”
Closer to their Enfield home, Michelle’s husband Matt, seeing his wife’s weight loss success also joined in May 2019.
He lost 10lbs in the first week and was converted from then on in.
The painter and decorator works away during the week and realised he needed to abandon the takeaways and bought himself a portable fridge to put in his van so now on the weekends he preps salads, pasta dishes and hard boils eggs so he has his own healthy food to hand.
Michelle now weighs 10st 7lbs and is a Size 12 and Matt has shed just over four stone from his 17st starting weight.
“It has transformed our lives,” said Michelle.
“And for Valentine’s this year I have asked Matt to just buy me flowers and no chocolates as I certainly don’t need them and don’t miss them.”
