Taken aback: Schools answer the call for PPE from health Trust

SCHOOLS and colleges in Worcestershire have donated 2,500 pieces of eye protection to help the local health trust in its battle against coronavirus.

Last week Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust launched an urgent appeal for any available eye protection equipment to be donated to local hospitals.

Now, after a response from more than 50 schools and colleges, the donations have been delivered to County Hall for distribution.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills, said: “We are overwhelmed by the response from our schools and colleagues who have donated the supplies to help our NHS workers.

“We were taken aback by the sheer numbers and the speed of the response and want to thank each and every one for answering the call and helping protect those frontline workers.”

A spokesperson for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said: “The generous help and support we are receiving from our local community is both uplifting and humbling.

“If any individuals, business or organisations are interested in offering donations they are welcome to contact the trust’s charity on 01562 828869 or [email protected].”
