Tandem gift with the perfect present for Redditch sight loss charity

MEMBERS of Redditch Association for the Blind will be enjoying the wind beneath their wheels after being given access to a tandem bicycle.

The tandem was offered to the association by Simon Beckett, of Becketts Farm at Wythall, before being passed on to Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club.

“I met Simon and he said he had a tandem which wasn’t getting much use and would we like it,” said association chairman Bill Payne.

“I said that without proper instruction it wouldn’t really be practical so I rang up John Mullen, chairman of Redditch Road & Path.

“He was hoping to get more disabled people enjoying the benefits of cycling and they have decent riders there too, so Simon took it over last week,” he added.

“They have a fantastic set up there – every Wednesday they are down at the Abbey Stadium and there are so many riders!

“As a result in due course one or two people will have a lot of fun.”
