THE car park at Pitcheroak Golf Course will be temporarily closed in March for essential maintenance works.
The project will kick off with kerbing works from a week on Monday, March 18, during which time a small section of the car park will be closed temporarily.
Full closure of the car park will then follow for four days from March 25 to facilitate the much-needed resurfacing and relining.
The old surfacing will be planed off before new surface is put down and residents are asked to remove their cars from this car park the night before to avoid potential access issues or risk damage to their vehicles.
The golf club will remain open for use during this time but will only be accessible by foot.
Council leader, Coun Matt Dormer, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we hope to keep disruption to a minimum.
“There is never a good time to close a car park like this one, especially at such a busy course, but closing it completely for a few days is the best option to avoid any health and safety issues.
“We trust visitors to this excellent leisure facility will understand the necessity and ultimately appreciate the enhancements being made.”
Marcus Killingsworth, operations manager at Pitcheroak Golf Course, said: “We’re very grateful to Redditch Borough Council for organising this resurfacing work.
“The car park is in a poor state at the moment and whilst we know it will be a short-term inconvenience for some of our regular users, in the long run it will mean a superior experience for guests going forward, especially for the upcoming summer season.”
