POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man attempted to abduct a teenage girl in Redditch on Monday (August 28)

Between 8.40pm and 9pm on Monday the girl was walking in a nature reserve, having taken the footpath from Easemore Road, by the Abbeydale allotments, to Churchill North.

A man on a bicycle passed her a couple of times before emerging from a field next to the path to Rush Lane/Snowhill Close and approached her holding a large band.

She shouted for help, distracting him, and was able to escape unhurt.

The man is white, aged 40-50, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. Initially he had his head uncovered, and is described as bald, but later was seen by the victim wearing a black balaclava. He was wearing a grey jumper and black gillet.

The bicycle he was riding is a grey, silver or white mountain bike with a bright LED light on the front.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this man in the nature reserve off Dagnell End Road or in the wider Abbeydale area of Redditch.

A couple walking in the reserve, who passed the victim, may have also seen the man on his bike and are asked to get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 863 of 28 August.
