Tesco Redditch colleagues aiming to raise £350K for charity

STAFF at a Redditch Tesco have raised over £509 for Cancer Research UK and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in just one day.

The hospice offers care for babies and young children with life-limiting, life-threatening or complex conditions.

On Saturday, customers and their children were treated to in-store games, prizes and got the opportunity to meet the children’s television characters Bluey and Bingo.

Tesco Redditch Extra community champion Kacie Hopcroft said: “The event went really well.

“We were really busy with lots of children getting involved in the hook-a-duck games and they loved meeting Bluey and Bingo.

“It was also great to be able to talk to our customers about the great work that the two charities we’re raising money for, Cancer Research UK and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, are doing for people locally.”

Sam Hill, Redditch Extra community champion, said: “We advertised the event locally on social media to drum up some support.

“We also visited Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice before we began the fundraising and were so impressed with the care and service it provides for children.

“The children who use the hospice are so bright and bubbly and I really hope what we’re doing raises awareness across the region for them.”

The fundraising is part of a bigger drive from Tesco colleagues across the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia.

On March 26, every store manager, area manager and store director will take part in a 13-mile Central Walk together for Cancer Research UK and another charity of each store group’s choice.
