The money is waiting: Last call for Redditch firms to get support

Redditch Editorial 28th Jul, 2020   0

THE coronavirus business support scheme is set to close in Redditch next month – but there is still time to claim.

So far just under £14million has been paid out to borough firms to help cushion the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In all the borough council has paid grants to 92 per cent of all eligible small or retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in the district – some 1,165 businesses in total.

In all £13.966m in Government grants has been paid to local firms through the Small Business Grants Fund, the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund, and the Discretionary Grants Fund.

However all three schemes are set to close on Thursday, August 20.

Councillor Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, said: “These grants have helped to ensure the survival of our local shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other businesses that are vital to our local economy.

“The vast majority of eligible businesses have now claimed but if yours hasn’t, please claim as soon as possible before the schemes close.”

Successful applicants usually receive grant payments within five days, subject to checks.
