The show must go on! New venue found after plug pulled on Artshouse

THE impending closure of Stratford Artshouse has meant that the Alcester Male Voice Choir has been forced to find an alternative venue for its annual concert in on May 12.

“We were devastated when we heard the Artshouse was closing, just one week before our concert was due to take place,” said the choir’s founder Judith Land BEM.

“The booking had been made just under 12 months ago, tickets, posters and booking forms all printed and over half the tickets sold.

Our annual concert is the highlight of the choir’s year and the only event we run for our own funds.”

However after a frantic few days the management of the Greig Hall in Alcester offered the choir the Greig Leisure Centre, and on the same day.

“I am very relieved and grateful to the Greig Management for agreeing to help us. I would like to reassure those who have already purchased their tickets that they are still valid for the new venue so there will be no replacements issued, just bring the existing tickets along on the night,” said Judith.

This will be the 44th annual concert staged by the popular 80 strong choir.

Judith has put together a lively programme with songs to suit all musical tastes including a medley from Les Miserables, On the Sunny Side of the Street, World War 1 songs, The Wind beneath my Wings, A Welsh Prayer, Nessun Dorma and many more.

The Choir will be supported by the their resident pianist Elliott Rooney with soprano Catherine Tebberner and violinist, the incredibly talented 14 year-old Amy Moynihan.

Tickets are £15 each on 07752 563068. Following the concert there will be a retiring collection for both the Shakespeare Hospice and African Leprosy Aid.
