A WOULD-BE burglar fled empty handed after breaking into a house in Lingen Close, Winyates at 3.20pm on Wednesday afternoon (November 2).
After jemmying open the sliding doors of the patio the burglar crept upstairs where the householder happened to be asleep.
However the noise woke them up and the would-be thief, who was tall and wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing, fled the scene.
Meanwhile in Compton Close, Oakenshaw, sometime between 4pm and 5pm on Monday (October 31) a thief snapped the lock on a side door, got inside and made off with a quantity of jewellery.
