THIEVES who struck near Redditch in broad daylight got away with a haul which included jewellery, cash, alcohol and a car.

Between 3.37pm and 3.57pm on Monday (September 18) the criminals pulled up on the driveway of a house on Banks Green in a grey car.

The broke in through a side door and during the 20 minutes they were inside stole jewellery, cash, alcohol and the keys to a car that was parked on the drive.

They then stole power tools from the garage before driving off with the victim’s car.

One of the intruders is of slim build wearing a dark jacket and black trousers.

Another is of average build wearing a grey hoody and grey trousers.

The last thief is of large build wearing a dark top, black trousers and black shoes.

Detective Sergeant Scott Chivers said: “This burglary was carried out in broad daylight so there may have been people in the area at the time that witnessed it, saw the vehicle or saw people acting suspiciously. We’re keen to hear from anyone who has information as it may be vital to our investigation.

“There have been several burglaries around Redditch, North Warwickshire and South Birmingham recently and we have plans in place to address this.

“We would like to take the opportunity to remind people of the importance of taking simple precautions to protect their property and belongings. It is important that people make life as difficult as possible for criminals.”

Police are offering the following advice:

  • Ensure your doors and windows are locked every time you leave the house, even if you’re just in the garden.
  • Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox. Remember a device can be used to hook keys through the letterbox.
  • Consider installing a burglar alarm and outside lighting.
  • If you’re going away, ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property.
  • If you’re going out at night use timers to turn you radio and lights on.
  • Make sure fences around your property are in good condition.
  • Secure bikes by locking them to an immovable object inside a locked shed or garage.
  • Keep ladders and tools locked away; don’t leave them outside where they could be used to break into your home.
  • Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.
  • Mark property with your postcode and house number and register it free with www.immobilise.com
  • Consider joining or forming a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
  • Remove valuables from view of ground floor windows.
  • Store any high value items in a secured safe or bank vault.

Anyone who has any information on the burglary should call 101 and quote incident 648s of 18 September 2017.
