“THE increase in people claiming out of work benefits in Redditch – up by more than 1,800 in just seven months – vividly illustrates the economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis.
Then there’s more than 15,000 workers on the government’s furlough scheme, soon to be replaced by another job support scheme.
It feels as if the borough is finely balanced.
On the horizon we have the Town Fund Deal which could deliver £25million, the town centre Improvement Plan, and the redevelopment of Matchborough and Winyates.
Let’s hope our town can show its true resilience and bounce back better.“
