ARCHAEOLOGISTS are currently on site doing a study on land the council hopes will be suitable for a new cemetery by Ipsley.
It’s easy to forget that Icknield Street Drive, the road that runs by it, is in fact the old Roman road Icknield Street.
They might find the Roman equivalent of a motorway service station, they might find nothing.
These days the land in question is used by the people of this town for recreation – and just think how vital green open spaces have been in this pandemic.
The council should listen to the people, and leave well alone.
