Redditch Editorial 12th Jul, 2023   0

ARMED police attended an incident at Redditch Railway Station on Sunday evening after reports of a group of men in the area with weapons.

The National Police Air Service helicopter was also sent to the scene.

Three suspects were located on Monday and two of them – men aged 18 and 19 – were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a firearm.

The third man, who was 18, was held on suspicion of violent disorder and drugs offences. They have been bailed while investigations continue.

The details have now been passed onto British Transport Police which is now leading the investigation.

The Standard was contacted by concerned residents about the large police presence, including armed officers, on Sunday evening.

And a section of footpath on Unicorn Hill was cordoned off on Monday morning, in between the railway and bus stations, believed to be part of the police investigation.
