Three Redditch schools to receive share of £450 million to improve buildings

THREE Redditch schools are set to receive a share of £450million to make improvements to buildings through the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

Birchensale Middle School, Feckenham CofE Primary School and Ridgeway Secondary School are three of the 733 school building improvement projects across the country to receive the green light as part of plans to boost the condition of the school estate.

This funding will support schools to keep buildings safe and in good working order by improving building condition, compliance, energy efficiency and health and safety.

Since 2018, a total of 16 projects in Redditch and the surrounding villages have benefited from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund.

In addition to this funding, in 2022 it was announced that Arrow Vale High School has been selected as one of the latest 239 schools that will be rebuilt or substantially refurbished as part of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean has welcomed the investment.

She said: “With the Government putting more money into schools than ever before, Arrow Vale High School being selected as part of the School Rebuilding Programme, and with three more schools benefiting from the Condition Improvement Fund, we are well and truly levelling up school funding in Redditch and the villages, just as I promised to do.

“I’m delighted three more of our schools have received this funding boost which will allow them to carry out vital improvement works.

“It’s essential every child in Redditch and the villages has access to a first-class education and schools which are maintained to the highest standards.”
