A FAMILY endured a terrifying ordeal after a gang of men broke into their house to steal what they thought was the family car.

The horror unfolded last Tuesday, August 15 at 8.50pm when six masked men walked up the gravel drive to the house in Coughton.

They threw a brick through the glass door of an outbuilding broke in and searched it but failed to find the keys to the Audi car.

The thugs then entered the house and searched the utility area but again failed to find the keys before running into the householder, a woman.

Once again they demanded the keys for the car and threatened the woman with a kitchen knife and a block of wood before carrying out a search of the house, again with no success.

However they stole her purse, cards and cash before again demanding the keys.

She shouted she didn’t have them, and, believing the police were on their way, the thugs panicked and made off in a silver vehicle, towards Studley.

The resident was left shaken but unhurt.
