IT was standing room only at the Carers Careline cake sale on Tuesday as people flocked to give up their time and money to support this worthy Redditch charity.
The event was held in the run-up to Carers Rights Day today, Friday, and was followed up by by staff spreading the word in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Thursday.
Carers Careline manager Fiona Mitchell said: “We asked carers to bake cakes to raise funds for the charity and we’ve ended up with a great turnout, lots of cakes and crafts and a good number of donations too.
“I just feel really pleased how the carers have taken everything on as we want them to know that this is their organisation, not ours.”
Local MP Karen Lumley, who visited the stand on Thursday added: “Carers Careline has had a few difficult times but has come through and has done a really good job advising people and helping them access benefits.”
Carers Careline is a Redditch charity that provides a vital service by offering carers support and advice as well as days and evenings out as a break from their roles.
It relies totally on donations and grants to keep going.
Carers Rights Day is an annual national awareness campaign organised by the charity CarersUK which aims to reach informal carers with information about their rights and the financial and practical help to which they are entitled.
