AS the counting of the votes gets well and truly underway Conservative Party candidate Rachel Maclean is “feeling quietly confident” after a ‘clean campaign’.

She said: “It’s been a really positive campaign for us and I have had a very warm welcome from the people of Redditch.

“We’re feeling quietly confident but it’s still very early days in terms of the vote counts so I think we’re just going to wait and see.

“It was always going to be a nervous evening and it’s still very close. We’ve seen how inaccurate the prediction polls have been in the past, so we really do have to just wait and see what happens.

“It’s a mixture of local and national issues that are going to influence people’s votes on this election. It’s a challenge with a snap election because the of the time constraints, but overall it’s been a very positive campaign.”
