Trading Standards issue danger alert over fake 'Frozen II' toys

Redditch Editorial 9th Apr, 2020   0

TRADING Standards officers are warning parents to check their children’s toys after fake ‘Disney Frozen II’ dolls were found to be dangerous.

Officers tested the dolls and found they contain ‘phthalates’ a banned chemical plastic softener, exposure to which has been linked to asthma, allergies and reproductive problems.

A second toy labelled ‘Aagel Girls’ doll set was also found to contain phthalates.

Residents in possession of these toys are advised to stop their children playing with them and report the purchase to Trading Standards by phoning the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133.

Neither toy carried the name and address of the manufacturer or importer on the packaging as is legally required, making it more difficult to discover where the product was imported and where it has been sold.

The warning comes after an investigation by Warwickshire Trading Standards officers and County Councillor Andy Crump, portfolio holder for community safety said: “I’m delighted that our Trading Standards Officers are taking this action to protect consumers.”

Officers say the ‘Aagel Girls’ doll set also contained a battery operated removable electronic ‘voice box’.

The battery was secured by adhesive tape that could be easily removed by a child who might then place it into their mouth or swallow it.
