Travellers have set up an illegal encampment near a housing estate on Burrington Close.
Redditch Borough Council (RBC) was notified of the travellers presence by residents yesterday (June 4).
Coun Lucy Harrison has confirmed that owners of the land, Persimmon, have spoken with the police and are ‘working to ensure they issue a notice to the travellers as swiftly as possible.’
The removal notice, when issued, will give the travellers 24 hours to leave the private property before certified enforcement officers or ‘bailiffs’ can use reasonable force to remove them.
West Mercia Police have confirmed that the ‘bailiffs’ are at the scene of the encampment today (June 6) to carry out the removal notice. The travellers are due to be removed by 4pm.
Leader of the council, Matt Dormer has also been notified of the situation.
