MORE than 400 new trees were planted earlier this month thanks to the efforts of Redditch’s Midweek Conservation Volunteer Group.
Supported by the borough council, they came together during the first week of February to plant a mixed native hedgerow of more than 400 trees at Terry’s Memorial Field.
The volunteers worked hard to plant the trees which are designed to have a positive impact on the local environment and provide vital resources and habitat for small mammals, birds, and insect species.
Council Leader Councillor Matt Dormer said: “The Midweek Conservation Volunteering Group have been working in Redditch’s parks and open spaces for more than 25 years and are very valuable to the community.
“The work they do is vital in contributing to the conservation, restoration and preservation of our local wildlife and countryside.
“We congratulate them on their diligent and selfless contributions to the community.”
