THE LOVING family of a terminally ill woman who married her childhood sweetheart at the Alexandra Hospital last month have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful’ daughter.
Michelle Nicholson nee Taylor said ‘I do’ to her fiance, Dean Nicholson, on February 2 in front of their son, Connor, and their closest friends and family in a heartfelt service conducted by chaplain David Ryan.
In support of Michelle, aged 34, all guests donned pyjamas, onesies and dressing gowns with slippers.
But just one month after her special ceremony, Michelle sadly passed away surrounded by her closest friends and family at the Primrose Hospice on March 2.
The couple had been planning their wedding for years but after learning Michelle’s cancer has grown more aggressive, they decided to seize the moment and bring their plans forward.
Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2013 after discovering a lump in her breast but the disease sadly spread to her skin and lungs and moved into her bones.
Loving father Kevin said Michelle was ‘over the moon’ after her wedding and mum Susan added the ceremony was ‘everything she ever wanted’.
Susan said: “It was everything she ever wanted – all she ever wanted to do was to marry her childhood sweetheart.”
The kind-hearted team at the Primrose were working to send Michelle and Dean to the Hospice’s holiday chalet in Broadway for a few days as a honeymoon for the newlyweds.
The Hospice’s family support team, who helped Michelle make a memory box for son Connor, are continuing to support the family.
Michelle’s loved ones extend their gratitude to the Alexandra Hospital, Macmillan nurses, the Primrose Hospice and chaplain David Ryan for the love and care they gave their daughter.
