FORMER Borough Councillor Brenda Quinney, who represented Batchley and Brockhill ward for the Conservative Party until May 2014, has passed away.
Mrs Quinney was elected to the Council in a by-election in July 2008 and during her time as a Councillor she served on a number of committees though was a particularly active member of overview and scrutiny.
She sat on the parent Overview and Scrutiny Committee as well as numerous scrutiny task groups investigating a range of issues including access for people with disabilities, the future of Redditch market, and steps to promote a constructive image of Redditch.

She also served for a number of years as the Council’s representative on the county’s Worcestershire Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
Leader of the Conservative Group Coun Juliet Brunner said: “Brenda was a strong and powerful advocate for the people of Batchley and Brockhill, she served on many committees and was passionate about health and commerce.
“Redditch has benefited from her amazing skill set and we are so very sorry to learn of her passing.”
The flag at the Town Hall will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and a letter of condolence will be sent to her family on the Council’s behalf.
A tribute and a minutes silence will be held at the next council meeting on January 29, 2018.
