Tributes pour in as Underwood family mourn loss of son Carrick

HUNDREDS of people have paid tribute to a much-loved Redditch teenager, who sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Rob and Maggie Underwood, founders of the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, lost their 19-year-old son Carrick Prentice Underwood at 1.15am today (January 11),

Having already lost two of their children to rare heart conditions – Charlotte Marie in December 2010 and Craig in December 2013 – the couple were devastated to announce the news on Facebook, saying :

“It is with a heavy heart that we say this morning that we lost our beloved son Carrick. We are heartbroken, numb and totally lost.

“God bless you son, we love you so much.”

Within hours of the announcement, dozens of people had posted words of support and condolences on their social media pages and more continue to appear.

Many of the touching tributes offer support and condolences to the family, who have thanked all their followers for their kind words and asked people to respect their privacy at this difficult time.

The husband and wife team have devoted their lives to putting lifesaving defibrillators into schools, community halls, and public venues around Redditch and Bromsgrove, tirelessly raising funds to buy and install the equipment. They also regularly teach courses on heart-safety, helping people learn about CPR and how to use a defibrillator correctly.
