TRIBUTES have been paid to the man who first brought karaoke nights to Redditch.
Frank Robinson passed away peacefully at his home in Church Hill last Thursday (May 29) after battling cancer.
The 65-year-old has been hailed as the first to start karaoke in Redditch in 1991 at his regular pub The Book and Candle, before taking his love of singing to The Kings Arms, The Railway, The Brockhill and The Duck Pond.
For more than 20 years he shared his passion with residents in the borough before retiring from MG Rover at 50 to enjoy time with wife Wendy and caravan holidays with his family.
His children Lisa, Jenny and Craig, said his favourite saying was ‘it’s going to be a crazy crazy night at Frank’s Karaoke’ and thanked everyone who shared the family’s memories of him.
Steve Creed, friend and neighbour, said he and his wife would follow Frank’s Karaoke no matter where he went.
“No matter where they were, you were guaranteed a warm welcome from Frank and a brilliant night out, he will greatly missed.
“Kath and I send our deepest wishes to all the family.”
Karaoke singer Elaine Sidebottom added: “After a long working week, it was Saturdays that I looked forward to, Frank’s Karaoke.
“We all came together like one big happy family. Frank was so uplifting, he couldn’t do enough for anyone, he was a great host, a true
gentleman.”
The funeral service will be held at Redditch Crematorium on Monday (June 9) at 12.30pm.
