Trio of comedies for Rowney Green Players

Redditch Editorial 20th Nov, 2022   0

THE ROWNEY Green Players, a 100-year-old drama club, will be putting on its first production since the pandemic when members perform ‘A Comedy Trio’ next Thursday to Saturday, November 24 to 26.

The three short comedy plays – The New Flat, World Premiere and Fish In Her Kettle – will get under way at 8pm each night at Rowney Green Peace Hall.

The drama club began performing Shakespearean plays in the early 1920s in their original wooden hut, and the Peace Hall was rebuilt in the 1960s and then refurbished in 2010.

Members have been performing at the club ever since, typically entertaining audiences with two plays a year, but the outbreak of the pandemic meant they were forced to temporarily close down.

And the bad luck continued for the group as their planned comeback production this spring had to be postponed when six of them contracted Covid.

The players’ lighting and sound technician Wayne Harris said: “Like many small drama groups, we have struggled to perform plays so we are delighted to be able to get back to doing what we love now.

“We would love to attract some new members too, we are always on the lookout for new talent, so whether people are interested in acting, directing or just helping out anyone is welcome.”

Tickets for ‘A Comedy Trio’ will cost audiences £7 each.

Call producer Sue Walker on 07977254519 to book tickets or for more information about joining the players.
