Trying car doors - Redditch Police issue alert over risk of vehicle crime

Redditch Editorial 30th Jan, 2019 Updated: 30th Jan, 2019   0

POLICE have issued an alert after a man was spotted trying car doors in the Moorcroft Gardens area of Walkwood.

He was white, aged 19 to 20, with short shaven hair and was wearing a hoodie and dark clothes.

Officers say most car crime is opportunistic and happens because doors or windows are left unlocked, keys are left in the ignition, or a sat nav is left inside.

They also urge people not to leave personal belongings on display and not to park in poorly lit areas.

At this time of year they are also appealing to people not to leave their cars unlocked with the engine running to defrost.
