Tuck in to tasty tribute to Hench

DINERS at an Oakenshaw pub will soon be able to pay their own tasty tribute to popular fund-raising teenager Craig Prentice.

The 17-year-old former Arrow Vale pupil, who died last year, was known as Hench and thanks to the efforts of a family friend they will be toasting him in style from tomorrow (Saturday).

The Duck Inn, in Pheasant Lane, has added the Henchburger to its specials board and the first of the spicy offerings will be dished up tomorrow.

Packed with a punch, the burger won’t be for the feint-hearted but it will be made with love according to its creator Debbie Wickett.

Based on some of the ingredients loved by Craig, the burger includes bacon, cheese, jalapenos, gherkins, nachos along with mustard and sweet chilli sauces.

Debbie said: “I threw together what I thought Craig would have put in it.

“He loved McDonalds and often made up his own burgers.

“I asked his friends for their ideas and then used my imagination.”

The burger had been entered into a national McDonalds competition and made it through to the final 11 out of 98,000. Debbie

was invited to the company’s head office and served her creation to a panel of six judges.

And although the burger failed to reach the last five, Debbie approached the Redditch pub with a reputation for its burgers.

She said: “I spoke to Louise at the Duck and she agreed to put it on their specials menu.

“And I know that it will be made with love.”

Craig’s dad, Robert Underwood, said he was looking forward to trying the Henchburger for the first time tomorrow.

“All I’ve seen so far is a picture of it so it will be good to try one.” he said.

“It’s nice to know that people are doing things to remember Craig – it gives you a warm feeling inside.”
