TWO MEN were arrested yesterday on suspicion of burglary after a cafe was broken into in Redditch town centre.

The pair, aged 28 and 32, were held following the burglary at Smokey Joe’s Cafe on Windsor Road around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

Following the burglary, the two men fled the scene before officers located them at a property on Other Road in Redditch.

A number of officers attended the scene and the men were arrested and taken into custody, where the remain.

Insp David Evans said: “I understand that a large police presence such as the one on Other Road overnight can be alarming to members of the public, but I would like to reassure them that this was an isolated incident and the suspects are now in police custody.”

Police enquiries and uniformed patrols were stepped up in the town centre yesterday.

Officers carried on their investigation and answered any questions people had.
