Two Redditch schools to receive share of £450 million to improve buildings

Redditch Editorial 23rd May, 2023   0

TWO schools in Redditch are set to receive a share of almost £450 million to make improvements to buildings.

It is through the latest round of the Government’s £456 million Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

Feckenham CofE Primary School and Walkwood Church of England Middle School are two of the more than 1,000 school building improvement projects across the country to receive the green light as part of plans to boost the condition of the school estate.

The funding will ensure that pupils can learn in safe, warm and energy efficient classrooms.

Since 2018, a total of 10 schools in Redditch have benefitted from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund.

The announcement follows on from the announcement in December that Arrow Vale High School has been selected as one of the latest 239 schools that will be rebuilt or substantially refurbished as part of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme.

It was also confirmed this month that schools in the constituency have received an extra £2,142,282 in Government funding.

It’s part of an extra £2 billion the Government is investing in schools this year and next, with every state school in England benefitting.

Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch said: “With the Government putting more money into schools than ever before, Arrow Vale High School being selected as part of the School Rebuilding Programme, and with two more schools benefitting from the Condition Improvement Fund.

“I’m delighted two more of our schools have received this funding boost which will allow them to carry out vital improvement works.

“It’s essential every child in Redditch and the Villages has access to a first-class education and schools which are maintained to the highest standards.”
