Unemployment ten-year low

UNEMPLOYMENT figures in Redditch are the lowest they have been in more than a decade according to the Office for National Statistics.

Their data showed only 814 people in the town are out of work and 647 were claiming job seekers allowance in December 2015 and 167 were claiming universal Credit were not in employment. this means only 1.8 per cent of people are claiming compared to the national rate of 2.4 per cent. Unemployment has not been this low since October 2005

MP Karen Lumley said: “These are very encouraging figures. However, I am paying particular interest in the age break-downs and will be doing all I can to reduce unemployment even further for everyone in the constituency.”
