A MAN arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Redditch yesterday has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The 26-year-old was held following an incident which happened near to the Oast House pub around midnight on Sunday morning.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident in which a man sustained multiple stab wounds.

The victim, also 26, is now in a stable condition and remains in hospital. He originally arrived at the Alex with stab wounds around 12.35am but was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A statement from The Oast House management team on its Facebook page said the pub was helping police with the investigation and added: “The incident hasn’t happened here but the car park is currently blocked off and police are in attendance.

“Thank you to those that have messaged to see if we are ok.

“Much love and thanks for your continued support.”

The pub later confirmed its car park had been released from police control and the pub reopened as usual.

Det Ch Insp Gareth Lougher, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward so far with information to help our investigation.

“Our enquiries are progressing well but we’re still looking to identify anyone who was in the car park of the Oast House pub at around midnight.

“CCTV shows people in the car park at around the same time and we are really keen to speak to them as they could be vital witnesses.”

DCI Lougher said officers were particularly keen to identify a group of around eight to ten men who were in the car park at the time the victim left.

“If you are one of these people, or were in the pub last night and have any information which may help our investigation, I’d ask you to please get in touch as soon as possible.”

He said although incidents like this could be alarming, he wanted to reassure everyone the force was working hard to understand what happened, adding it was not believed there was any risk to the wider community.

Anyone with information should call the reactive CID team on 01527 586129.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
