AN URGENT appeal has been launched by a Wythall animal rescue centre Fur and Feathers which is facing eviction and desperately needs to find a new home.
In an emotional appeal on social media, the charity said it ‘had no more avenues to explore’.
“Those of you that have supported us for a while will be aware that we have we have been searching for a new location to call home for some months – to no avail.”
After finding out the land it had rented for the past 14 years had been offered up for development, Fur and Feathers said it had been asked to resign its contract but said it thought time was on its side.
But it added: “This morning we received a text message from our landlord saying he did not wish to enter into a contract with the charity, nor was he interested in selling the land to us.
“We have been given only time ‘within reason’ to vacate the land.”
The charity has asked everyone to ‘help in any way they can’.
“In an ideal world – someone out there has the perfect property for us that somehow we have missed.
“But if that does not exist then we are going to have to shut up shop until such a time comes where we are in a position to start all over again.”
What the charity needs to do immediately
Fur and Feathers needs temporary homes for horses Jazz and Oakley, pig Porky, geese, ducks and chickens – which they feel could be easily sorted.
The charity said: “Everything on the site belongs to us – stables, fences, catterys, storage unit, sheds and enclosures – this is a massive massive move and this is where we need your help.
“The animals are not at risk and easily sorted but it’s the bigger picture of moving everything and we have no where to go.”
People are also needed to dissemble all the property – the pens, sheds and other items.
Storage facilities – whole barns would be the best option – for all of the charity’s property.
Vehicles are needed to transport the charity’s property.
And it needs funds so when the day comes it does find a new home, the charity is in a position to act swiftly.
The statement concluded with: “Please help us however you can.
“Our hearts are broken and we’re completely overwhelmed by the devastating reality that lies ahead of us.
“I can’t believe it’s come to this.”
