Vandals target Three Cooks Cafe's window - the fifth attack in 15 months

“I’m absolutely fed up with this” – that was the verdict of Three Cooks owner Tim Cangaj after coming into work to find his cafe windows smashed again.

In CCTV footage recovered by the Standard, vandals can be seen punching and kicking the cafe’s windows at 10.30pm on Monday, July 29.

It’s the fifth time the Evesham Walk cafe has been targeted by thugs in the last 15 months.

“There’s not enough police presence in the town,” said Tim, “I’ve said before we need to have more police on the corner of Church Green.

“I can’t afford to keep paying out for the same issue, it will end up closing my business.

“My landlord, who rents the building to me, has said we should look at getting shutters around the cafe.”

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean and John Campion, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia, vowed to take action after meeting business owners who suffered from vandalism in Redditch town centre last year.

However not much has changed for Tim, who says the attacks are still frequent.

Police are currently investigating and say they will try and use other CCTV footage from around the area.

Representative for Church Hill, Coun Mike Rouse, said: “It’s just not good enough that people from, presumably, our town are doing this.

“They need to stop and show some respect.

“Three Cooks is a good little business, doing good work, and they need our support not this kind of treatment.

“I encourage locals to go in and buy a coffee, a tea and/or a cake.

“Let’s show Tim we support him and his business and put a few quid in the till to help him get over this.”

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 58/s/300719.
