A VIDEO of the day Redditch set a new Guinness World Record by planting 12,864 crocus bulbs in one hour has been shared online.

The magnolious effort was achieved by Redditch Kingfisher Rotary Club at Arrow Valley Park on October 13, 2019.

The event was backed by Rubicon Leisure, Botany Bay Nurseries, local Scouts, Astwood Bank in Bloom, and the Air Cadets from 216 Squadron.

It fell in line with Rotary Great Britain and Ireland’s ‘Purple4Polio’ campaign to eradicate polio.

Ruby giant crocus corms were planted during the attempt.

A spokesperson for Redditch Kingfisher Rotary Club said: “Thanks to everyone who helped set this record.

“This week we celebrated our Guinness World Record for mass bulb planting.
