THE Green Party in Redditch is contesting every ward in the local elections to Redditch Borough Council.
Their leader Claire Davies said: “It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the 21st Century poses some unique challenges for us all.
“From tackling the causes of climate change, to how we best repair a broken NHS and welfare system that supports everybody.
“The mainstream politics of ‘business as usual’ isn’t working.
“Yet the Green Party is the new broom sweeping through the corridors of power up and down the country.
“We need a new approach to decision making at borough council level, and having a Green Party voice on the council can bring this new perspective.”
She added that the Greens would look at decisions already made concerning redevelopment areas across Redditch, whether it’s the Eastern Gateway, plans for Matchborough and Winyates or the redevelopment of the town centre.
Under scrutiny would be what meets the needs of residents but equally, how to make any redevelopment as energy efficient, and sustainable as possible.
This would be at the core of any decision.
“Whilst the council’s influence over the bus service provision is minimal, its inefficiency is letting down many of Redditch’s residents,” said Ms Davies.
“Efficient public transport is vital to giving people real options over how they choose to move around our town and further afield, and we would work hard at making those choices as easy as possible.
“We would be engaging with all communities within our town, working with them to help build strong, resilient community foundations, helping all to feel safe within Redditch.”
