A 22 MILE walk from Worcester to Redditch this month is set to support Christian Aid and help forge friendships in the community.

The guided walk along the canal on May 20 has been developed in partnership with Redditch Ramblers Group and will set out from Worcester Cathedral at 8am and aims to arrive at St Stephens Church in Redditch at around 5.15pm.

Walkers can meet at the North Porch Door of Worcester Cathedral and people are also invited to join the group at various points en route so they can all finish together at St Stephen’s for afternoon tea.

For those wanting a shorter distance, the group will depart the Queen’s Head pub at 1.15pm for a medium length walk of 7.5 miles, while 5.5 miles walk will leave St Bartholomew’s Church in Tardebigge at around 3pm. The shortest walk of 2.5 miles will leave St Philip’s Church in Webheath, Redditch at around 4.15pm.

Children under 16 and vulnerable adults must have adult supervision at all times and the walk will go ahead whatever the weather so appropriate clothing and footwear is a must.

Walk leader John Legge, of St Peter’s Church in Redditch said: “We want to take in a beautiful stretch of countryside including the canals from Worcester to Redditch to raise funds as part of Christian Aid Week.

“We hope people will join us – no matter what distance they think they can manage. There is something for everyone for this great cause.”

Walkers and non-walkers are invited to the afternoon tea provided at St Stephen’s Church at the end of the day, with all donations going to Christian Aid.
