AWARD-winning Redditch chippy The Golden Carp came oh so close to winning the top prize as the Best Chip Shop in England in the Seafood Awards.
The Matchborough mecca for quality food was the pick of the Midlands at the awards ceremony but just missed out to overall winners Millers Fish and Chips of Haxby, York.
However Golden Carp owner Theo Elinas said it had been fantastic to be involved in the awards.
“The winners thoroughly deserved it, they were fantastic,” said Theo.
“We’ll get feedback on what the judges thought of us in a few weeks and we’re looking forward to seeing what they say, but I’m really proud of how well we did.”
