THE HOTTEST weekend of the year is being forecast across Redditch and Alcester.
Temperatures could peak at 29°C on Saturday afternoon but experts predict the humid conditions could come to a dramatic end with the arrival of thunderstorms soon after.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for most of England and Wales which could be sparked from 2pm on Saturday until around 9pm.
Whilst many places will be largely dry, thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail are likely to develop in some places according to the warning which covers Worcestershire, the Midlands, Wales, the north west of England and London.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds,” the Met Office said.
“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and possibly even cancellations to rail services
“There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be temporarily lost,” it added.
