Webheath Brownies celebrate Chinese New Year in style

WEBHEATH Brownies celebrated the Chinese New Year in style recently when they were joined by local experts Sue and Boon Yeng.

The children were taught how to accept and receive gifts (with both hands and looking each other in the eye) and how to say ‘Kung Hei Fat Choi’ and wish everyone a Happy New Year!

This year is the Year of the Pig and pigs are considered a symbol of wealth, so it was all the more appropriate that Boon gave each Brownie the traditional red envelope with gold coins in, edible ones!

The event also brought back many happy memories for Sue, who was herself a Brownie there many years ago and found the self same toadstool she had leapfrogged over as a girl in the store room.

At her request the evening ended with a rendition of Hayla-Shayla.
