IT was welcome aboard for Sea Cadets Chief Petty Officer Kim Utting when she was promoted to join her husband Joe to help oversee Warwickshire district.

CPO Utting has been an integral part of Training Ship Kingfisher in Redditch for more than 25 years, helping thousands of young people from the borough and Bromsgrove achieve important qualifications and giving them a head start in life.

She’s now been promoted to Warrant Officer 2nd class in Warwickshire district where Joe, her husband of two months, is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy Reserve.

Her new appointment will mean she will be responsible for development of new volunteers within the county covering 10 units and more than 200 volunteers.

Lt Cdr Utting said of his wife’s promotion: “It’s great to have WO2 Utting onboard the team. She has done sterling work within Redditch and Bromsgrove, and now she will help develop new volunteers into the cadet force.”
