All welcome: Warwick Hospital opens doors to Redditch mums-to-be

WARWICK Hospital is to hold a meeting for mums-to-be from Redditch and the surrounding area in Studley village hall.

The move comes less than 24 hours after Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust announced that the hoped-for return of maternity services to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch will not be happening for the ‘forseeable future’.

The meeting, organised by South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, is on Wednesday, March 2 from 6pm to 8pm and attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the Head of Midwifery at Warwick Hospital about the services offered to women.

They will also be able to get a better understanding about the process for transferring their care and information on the antenatal clinics the Trust runs in Alcester and Bidford.

Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and discuss their personal circumstances with a member of the maternity team in private.

Wendy Jones, head of Midwifery said: “This meeting is an opportunity for women who have been affected by the closure of the Alexandra Hospital’s maternity unit to learn more about the options available to them. We want to make the process of transferring their maternity care as easy as possible and make sure all women are informed.”

The event will be held at the Studley Village Hall, High Street, Studley, Warwickshire, B80 7HJ. Spaces are limited so contact the Membership Office to book a place on free phone 0800 085 2471 or email [email protected] .

If the meeting is over subscribed a spokeswoman for the Trust said further ones would be organised.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust meets 100 per cent of the Care Quality Commission’s core standards.
