CHILDREN and staff at St Luke’s C of E First School have been celebrating after it achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools by Optimus Education.
This is a national standard award for positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Over the last year, staff at St Luke’s have been developing and improving their provision for mental health and wellbeing education and are delighted to achieve this award.
As part of the award, the school has been promoting the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’, one of which is increasing the amount of physical activity throughout the school day.
This has been shown to contribute to better mental health and wellbeing.
And last week the school officially opened its new play activity trail which children will be able to use throughout their school day. Headteacher, Elaine Pemberton, said: “Physical activity plays a key part in promoting healthy lifestyles and good wellbeing.
“We are delighted that our children can enjoy this activity trail as well as getting some great exercise.”
