WENDY Pettifer, has been named as the new president of Redditch Lions.
Wendy takes the presidents chain of office in the club’s 45th year, and will be presiding over it during the centennial year of Lions International.
This was formed in 1917 by a Chicago business leader, Melvin Jones, who wondered what would happen if people put their talents to work improving their communities. Redditch Lions Club is one of 46,000 Lions Clubs worldwide.
As part of the centennial celebrations, Redditch Lions are organising an afternoon tea party for the pensioners of the town, to be held later this year.
At the end of October, Redditch Lions will also be putting on their annual Hallowe’en Fun Run, and over Christmas will be collecting in the big supermarkets for local charities and good causes.
