West Mercia Rape charity and Primrose Hospice among charities awarded cash

Redditch Editorial 21st Jun, 2020   0

THE PRIMROSE Hospice, West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre and the Amicii Dog Rescue have all received some grand news from Ecclesiastical.

The three Worcestershire charities will each receive £1,000 from the insurance company’s latest Movement For Good scheme.

The awards, which will see £1million handed to charities across the UK this summer, come after people were urged to nominate the causes close to their hearts with 650 votes for 45 charities across the region.

Ecclesiastical’s CEO Mark Hews thanked everyone who voted and contributed to an ‘overwhelming public response’.

“It’s clear people care deeply about those in need in their region at what is an incredibly testing time for many, and from looking at the nomination data locally, community organisations seem to hold a particularly fond place in the hearts of residents.”

Later this summer, a further ten charities will also be chosen by a panel of judges to receive £50,000 from Ecclesiastical to be put towards the advancement of education, skills, arts, culture and heritage, as well as citizenship or community development.

Charities are invited to apply for the substantial grant with applications being assessed against four key areas – impact and effectiveness, sustainability, innovation and care and compassion.

The successful charities will be announced from September 21.
