A WOMAN in a wheelchair was cautioned for drink driving when Alcester’s town bobby took to the streets.

The light-hearted incident was part of a 1940s street market where the traditional officer patrolled the beat.

The event, which was held on Sunday (June 8) by Alcester Court Leet, saw more than 9,000 people descend on the town to mark the 70th anniversary of D Day.

Stalls, a fancy dress contest, and best shop window display competition were all on offer on the day, while live entertainment and vintage vehicles entertained visitors.

Funds raised from the event are still being counted and will go towards the High Bailiff’s Charity Fund.
