YOUNG people from ‘Wicketz hubs’ in Redditch, Birmingham, Luton and Manchester will link up for a day of indoor, hardball cricket at Edgbaston Stadium next year.
On January 3 the keen cricketers from the Lord’s Taverners Wicketz programme will also take part in several educational workshops, with topics on knife crime and financial responsibility.
The programme, aimed at young people living in areas of deprivation, is helping to break down barriers across the country.
It brings together disadvantaged youngsters, aged 8-16, through cricket and is used as way of keeping them out of trouble.
As well as offering them a sporting chance, Wicketz also develops crucial life skills.
