VOLUNTEERS with Studley in Bloom say they have lost a huge numbers of plants due to the current heatwave.
With temperatures soaring for the past fortnight their water bowser man Mark Roskill has been out water plants up to twice a day in a bid to stop them from drying out.
“Some of the planters have a tank in the bottom and are self-watering but the top has been drying out so quickly due to the heat the system hasn’t been working,” said Jill Liebthal, chairman of the Bloomers.
“It’s lovely to have the weather but it’s a nightmare as far as Studley in Bloom is concerned – I’m just glad we haven’t entered a competition this year.”
