Winds on the tail of Hurricane Ophelia cause tree to fall blocking road in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 16th Oct, 2017   0

HIGH winds sweeping across the midlands in the wake of Hurricane Ophelia are causing havoc for Redditch residents.

Battens Drive in Redditch is currently partially blocked at its junction with A4023 due to a fallen tree, damaged in the strong winds.

Residents have been warned that between midday and midnight gusts could exceed 50mph in some parts of the region because of weather associated with the tail end of Hurricane Ophelia.

Drivers are urged to take care as the winds could bring disruption to travel, cause some damage to properties and even power cuts.
