Witness plea after racially aggravated attack on Redditch taxi driver

POLICE in Redditch have issued an appeal for witnesses after a racially aggravated assault in the early hours of Saturday, February 10.

A 56-year-old man was assaulted in his taxi, a dark grey Toyota Avensis, in the Bromsgrove Road area of town at approximately 4am.

He suffered head injuries after being punched by a man sitting in the front seat passenger inside the car and again as he got out to escape.

The attacker is white, in his early 30s, with brown hair and of muscular build. He was wearing a white short sleeved t-shirt.




He was accompanied by a woman with brown hair, wearing a black dress, who travelled in the back seat of the car.

The pair got in the vehicle at the taxi rank on Unicorn Hill and were travelling toward Webheath.


Anyone who witnessed the assault, or who has any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 and quote incident number 344 of 10 February.
