WMG appointed to deliver innovation programme in Redditch

MANUFACTURING small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Redditch and Bromsgrove are set to benefit from tailored support after the appointment of Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) to deliver the Innovation Lighthouse programme to the areas.

WMG, a research and education department at the University of Warwick, will deliver the Innovation Lighthouse programme which aims to drive growth, competitiveness, and resilience in the manufacturing sector.

The programme is designed to help small and medium-sized manufacturers improve their productivity, and develop new products and processes, guiding them from initial concept through to implementation.

Businesses will receive support tailored to their specific needs, covering all stages of development. In addition, match-funded grants will be available to participants to assist with the delivery of their project.

Dean Baker, WMG’s head of business development, said the group was delighted to have been chosen by Redditch Borough and Bromsgrove District Councils to deliver the Innovation and Productivity Business Support Programme.

“The programme will provide best-in-class support for SMEs in Redditch and Bromsgrove, combining WMG’s deep manufacturing expertise, world-class facilities, academic and research excellence, and agile, impactful delivery.”

The Innovation Lighthouse programme has received £100,000 for Redditch and £100,000 for Bromsgrove businesses from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is available to businesses in both areas.

Redditch Borough Council leader, Coun Sharon Harvey, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Redditch’s manufacturing businesses to access tailored support and funding that can help them grow and flourish. WMG’s expertise will be invaluable in helping our local firms stay competitive and future ready.”
